My name is Angelique Kilby, and I am new to the Curves family in downtown Bellflower. I started my own mission to weight loss in September of 2009. I was walking around the weight loss section at my local library and discovered the Curves 30 Days to Weight Loss book. After quickly reading the first couple of pages, I realized I needed to check out this book. I enjoyed the weight loss plan so much that for my birthday the following month my mother-in-law gave it to me as a gift. After practicing the Curves diet for 4 months I lost about 30lbs.
I was so amazed that I was able to lose weight on a diet that not only taught me how to lose weight, but also taught me how to boost my metabolism and keep the weight off for a lifetime. The Curves weight loss plan is so simple, with all the hard work already done for you. All I had to do is pick the meals, stay within my goals, and of course exercise. I am now a more healthy me, and am currently working on my ultimate goal.
My ultimate goal is to help others learn how to lose weight, and also be a healthier version of themselves. Before coming to Curves, I was a nursing student and worked for Little Company of Mary hospital in the ICU. My experience there taught me how many patients could have avoided becoming so sick if they took better care of their bodies. I would say the majority of patients there were suffering from complications of heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Obesity is linked to all three of these diseases. Diabetes and obesity are so closely linked that physicians are now starting to call diabetes diabesity.
I realized during my time as a student nurse that I loved helping people, but wished I could have prevented them from being in the ICU in the first place. I then changed my major to Nutrition Science and am currently working my way towards becoming a Registered Dietitian. My passion is nutrition, learning as much as a I can about it, and sharing that knowledge with as many people as possible.
My mission now is to help you by teaching the Curves plan at Curves in downtown Bellflower on Wednesdays. I am so excited that I was given this opportunity, and hope I can help all of you reach your healthy goals.
